I felt a little under the weather the other day. No energy, tired, bleh! I really wanted some juice…something that glows green like kryponite but doesn’t drain my strength. Ha! I really wanted some Kale Aid from True Food Kitchen, but it is so far from me. So here is my version. If you want more zing, just add a little more ginger. Enjoy!
I have a Omega J8004 Masticating Juicer that has been very effective in extracting juice from fruits and vegetables. I works really well with leafy greens such as kale, cabbage, etc. I’ve also made soy milk and grind coffee beans with it. It’s really useful for those times when you can’t eat all the veggies or fruits in your fridge….just juice it!
If you don’t have a masticating juicer…no worries. You can blend it in your blender and strain it. You can use a cheesecloth or for best results use a nut milk bag.
Makes about 4 cups
4 large kale leaves
2 Stalks of celery
1 large cucumber
1 lemon, rind removed
1 in. piece of ginger
1. Wash and clean ingredients; especially the kale leaves. Juice all the ingredients above. Alternating the vegetables and fruits as you juice. If you are using a blender, then blend all the ingredients and strain.
2. Serve immediately with ice.
